Utah doctors and nurses are among the most overworked in the country, according to a new report comparing the number of professionals with the state's population. Idaho has the second-highest percentage of doctors who are overworked, behind New York. The state is also home to some of the most understaffed hospitals in the country, with more than 60,000 doctors and more than 1.5 million nurses, making it the state with the most overworked nurses, "the report said.

Smith, a professor of medicine at Dixie State University and co-author of the study. He said that a simple comparison of the number of doctors per thousand people does not give an accurate picture, as there are many other factors to consider.
